Drinking Water Quality

Irish Water plans to write to over 140,000 homes and businesses over the course of the coming weeks to advise of issues that exist with their drinking water. A booklet outlining the issues will be delivered to customers in 16 counties.

The EPA's Remedial Action List identifies public water supplies that are at risk due to either microbial or chemical contamination. The list of affected water supplies is available to view on the EPA website.

Issues affecting water supplies include elevated THMs, inadequate barriers for cryptosporidium, poor turbidity removal, the presence of low levels of pesticides, aluminium exceedances.

Irish Water is the national water utility responsible for providing water and wastewater services throughout Ireland.
