Allergen Testing

EU Legislation (Food Information to Consumers (FIC) Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011) requires that certain allergens, if present in your product, must be declared on the label of food products sold to customers. The FSAI in Ireland provides a details list of allergens which must be declared and any exceptions. Prepacked food samples collected by environmental health officers are tested by the public analyst laboratories each year for the presence of certain food allergens. Depending on the potential risk, a product may be withdrawn or recalled and a notification sent to the EU rapid alert system for food and feed (RASFF).

Fitz Scientific can assist food businesses in compliance with correct labelling by providing testing of your food products and swabs. Our tests allow for the correct determination of the presence or absence of allergens and the quantification of amounts of allergen present.

Gluten testing is based on the internationally recognised ELISA testing system.
