Asbestos Testing Services

Fitz Scientific provide identification of asbestos in bulk and soil samples, in accordance with HSG248 Asbestos – The Analyst’s Guide.
Our technicians are qualified to P401 (Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples) – British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS). 

Asbestos was commonly used in Ireland up to 1999 mainly as a building material, in insulation and fireproofing, and in some consumer goods. As a result, it is likely that there are still significant volumes of this waste in the environment. All types of asbestos cause lung cancer, mesothelioma, cancer of the larynx and ovary, and asbestosis (fibrosis of the lungs). Asbestos waste is hazardous and must be identified and disposed of properly when undertaking any demolition work.

Fitz Scientific provide analysis in our purpose-built soil testing laboratory. Samples can be collected from site or delivered to the lab by courier. Suitable packaging can be provided on request. Reports will identify the presence, level and type of any asbestos containing material.
