Legislation applicable to food producers requires that the food nutritional values of the product are clearly indicated on the label. European Union Regulation No. 1169/2011 sets out all of the requirements for the information that must be clear on food labels. Further information on the legislation can be sourced from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. The most accurate method of calculating the nutritional information for food products is through laboratory analysis.
